DESCRIPTION:All that Time Knitting and it Doesn't Fit!\nHow to Avoid the Ba
 d Fit Blues.\n\nBy Martha: \n\nThis program will start with a tutorial on
  how to take accurate body measurements. If you want to participate in mea
 suring\, please wear a close-fitting garment (a T-shirt is fine). Martha w
 ill provide a form for you to record your measurements\; please bring a pe
 ncil. If you have a flexible (non-metal) tape measure\, bring it. If not\,
  we will provide tape measures for you to use. We will discuss how to tran
 sform a 2-D knitted item into something that fits a 3-D body. Martha will 
 cover:\n\n 	The important body measurements to ensure a good fit\n 	Techni
 ques for shaping a knitted garment\n 	The types of ease and how they affec
 t fit\n 	Time for questions on individual fit issues\n\nThis should be a f
 un hands-on program that will help to make your knitted items fit you! Ple
 ase attend even if you don’t want your measurements taken. We’ll need 
 people to take the measurements and record them.\n\n\n\n⊗  Yarn will be

 io\n\nI learned to knit when I was 12. Our left-handed mom sent her right 
 handed daughters next door to Sarah\, a lady who could knit in a darkened 
 movie theater. We learned to knit what my niece has learned is called “R
 ussian Grandma Continental Knitting”.\nA year or so later\, I was still 
 a scrawny little girl who wanted to wear cool teenage clothes. But the sto
 res only showed little girl dresses in my size. Tiring of shopping every s
 tore in a 25 mile radius my mother pointed to our trusty Singer and told m
 e to learn to sew. So I did.\nI took every home-ec class in high school an
 d followed that with a college minor in theatrical costuming. After colleg
 e I made my way back to Manhattan where I worked in the costume shop of th
 e Rockettes. I usually served as sample hand\, sewing the first prototype 
 of the pattern for a new costume. All the costumes were individually fitte
 d on each long-legged rockette.\nAfter that I landed a position in the war
 drobe department of the soap opera All My Children\, and stayed there for 
 3 years. I enrolled in graduate school earning a MA in historical clothing
  and textiles and taught as an adjunct instructor in the Home Ec. departme
 nt of Queens College while raising my family.\nI continued to sew for myse
 lf and my growing family\; Halloween costumes\, prom dresses and eventuall
 y wedding dresses. While I rarely sew clothing anymore\, I still do freque
 nt alterations to help my clothing fit better.\nMartha Fine.\n\n

 e 200 hour Sumit’s Yoga Teacher Training in 2013. Her style of yoga is f
 ull of options to do more or less and encouragements to make adjustments d
 epending on what you feel today. Over the last decade she has taught yoga 
 in studios\, schools\, churches\, homes and parks to kids\, moms\, dedicat
 ed yogis and beginners that never expected to find themselves on a yoga ma
 t.\n\nWhen she is not doing yoga\, Shey loves to hike\, read\, grow her ho
 use plant collection and spend time with her husband\, kids and dogs. Orig
 inally from the Midwest\, Tucson sunshine never gets old. Even on a tough 
 day\, yoga leaves her feeling stronger\, happier\, and less cynical. This 
 is why she teaches\, hoping to share a little bit of this peace and kindne

DESCRIPTION:Virginia Catherall via Zoom ...\n\nVirginia is a textile artist
  and knitwear designer of wearable landscapes. She lives and works in Salt
  Lake City\, Utah. She is inspired by the incredible\, rugged and sublime 
 landscape around Utah\, Great Salt Lake\, and the Great Basin. She designs
  a line of knitted items inspired by the history\, landscape\, and art of 
 the area. Through this process she finds meaning in landscape\, a type of 
 knitting *terroir*\, that brings her home\, her place\, into the forefront
  of her life. And because of that\, she has come to hone her thinking abou
 t environmentalism\, conservation\, and preservation of land. In 2015 she 
 was Artist-in-Residence for Black Rock Desert National Conservation Area i
 n Nevada and the 2016 Artist-in-Residence for Great Basin National Park. I
 n 2019 she was Artist-in-Residence for Capitol Reef National Park. And in 
 2023 she was Artist-in-Residence for Glacier National Park. She has been c
 hosen as the 2026 Artist-in-Residence for Joshua Tree National Park\, stay
  tuned for some new desert wearable landscapes.\n\nShe is also Curator of 
 Education at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts where she designs and implements
  family programs\, visitor experience and community outreach. Her professi
 on informs her work and vice versa\; inspiring people to be involved in th

 to announce the 2nd Arizona Fiber Festival to be held in April of 2026 in

 l study system is the ant-aphid mutualism. Meredith\, originally from nort
 hern VA\, is also a multi-media science communicator\, who seeks to inspir
 e an appreciation for the insect world through social media\, scientific i
 llustration\, and knitting. Learning to knit when she was 8 sparked a life
 long passion for the craft\, and when she was completing her M.S. in Phila
 delphia\, she began designing insect themed knitting patterns to highlight
  the diversity and beauty of these organisms in a non-traditional medium.
